Our Story

Today, Towne Communications is developing an animated feature film inspired by true events, with some of Hollywood’s top animation talent originally from Disney, Pixar, and DreamWorks…

But first, our story...

Towne traces its origins back to a college break, when the firm’s founder, Charlotte Wilkerson, volunteered in the communications department of Miami’s county government. It proved such a perfect match that she was offered a management position upon graduation. She accepted, and so began her career.

A communications company called Towne…

Thereafter, Charlotte was approached to handle an advertising account with the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce. That marked the beginning of Towne Publishing & Advertising Company and its expansion into other markets. National awards followed, as well as industry-wide recognition.

A slick and strategic success…

The company rapidly became known for producing striking and strategically targeted content, such as “Inside Miami,” a newsstand lifestyle magazine that became an instant hit! It caught the attention of McClatchy Newspapers and other clients followed.

They knew that when you worked with Towne, you received a purposefully-branded product, and a healthy bottom line.

Moving from the page to film…

Never content to rest, Towne remained driven and knew it could provide its clients further avenues to diversify, which is when it launched a separate division to produce films for the Bahamas government.

The road to animation…

When least expecting it, Towne encountered a remarkable true story set in Miami, with an inspiring lead character, that led the company to expand and create a family movie. The story caught the attention of some of the industry’s top animation talent, including Co-Head of Story for Toy Story, Original Story for CARS, and an Academy Award Nominee.  The team is also responsible for classics such as The Lion King, Finding Nemo, Beauty and the Beast, Shrek, Monsters, Inc., A Bugs Life, and The Incredibles, to name only a few.

And who better to produce a Miami-based story than Towne -- a Miami company!

Towne expands its footprint...

Encouraged by substantial industry support, Towne brought in writers, artists, and movie executives to help shape the vision. Together, they developed the screenplay, along with a related children’s streaming series, and a worldwide entertainment and merchandising program.

Towne establishes itself in the entertainment and charity worlds…

In conjunction with Towne’s newest venture, Kids4Animals Foundation was founded as a 501(c)(3) public charity that will receive a percentage of the proceeds generated by the brand.
